18May 2017

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has decided to establish a spic-and-span golf course in Dwarka. The golf course will attract the visitors as it is having various perks including 50 mini- football facilities and 100 open-air gyms in parks located across the national capital.

Vijay Goel, the union minister for “youth affairs and sports” granted a statement of allotment of at least 4-acre land to senior secondary schools too. He gave this statement after a meeting with the senior DDA officials on the sports infrastructure in the city. A meeting is being set with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) which will take place very soon for some similar projects. Sports hold a very important role in the well bringing of a child and also enhance inner strength so excluding the 4-acre land for school; rest will be used in Golf course.

The decision given by him was for the sports benefit of the students as half of the area will be used for various sports facilities. He believes that sports and studies should get equally balanced. The MOU will be signed by the ministry with the DDA expansion of sports facilities.

The minister also asked Qutab and Bhalswa golf course under DDA (18 holes each) to decrease the fees from Rupees 600 to 200 in order to make it economical and convenient for the children. He also mentioned that the new golf course in Dwarka will get ready in two years. This project is going to be a project which will set the milestone for other states too.

Mr. Goel also ordered to set up open-air gyms in nearly 100 big-sized DDA parks of 10 acres or more for the promotion of health and fitness. Apart from this, volleyball, mini-football, and basketball turfs will be developed in small-sized parks of 2-3 acres. The 773 parks allotted by the DDA have not been properly used by the civic agencies, claimed by Mr. Goel. He also stated that the civic bodies will properly use the property tax which has been collected from the sports stadiums in Delhi for the development of mini- sports facilities in their parks.

He also mentioned about a deal which has collaborated with FIFA for the making of 50 football turfs in smaller parks of the city. For the benefit of a large number of people, the ministry will provide relaxation in the entry norms of DDA sports complexes, Mr. Goel said.
